Method of coupling liquid flow pipes and retainer plate of heat exchanger
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the trouble of water leakage at the coupling portion of liquid flow pipes and a retainer plate without damaging the inner surface of a rubber packing, by coupling the liquid pipes and the retainer plate by use of a cap member having a thin cylindrical portion under a conical head portion. CONSTITUTION:In coupling end portions of many round pipes constituting the core of a heat exchanger to a retainer plate constituting one surface of the tank wall in the manner that the pipes are extended through the retainer plate in a liquid-tight manner, the liquid pipe 5 is inserted into the main body 6a of a rubber packing 6 after fitting a cap member 7 to one end of the liquid pipe 5. Therefore, the end portion of the pipe 5 fitted with the cap member 7 is extended through the main body 6a while compressing the rubber packing 6 elastically. In press fitting the liquid pipe 5, the cap member 7 does not damage the inner peripheral surface of the main body 6a of the packing 6, and at the same time, the fitting operation can be carried out with ease. Finally, the operation is completed by drawing out a cylindrical portion 7b of the cap member 7 from the space between the main body 6a of the packing 6 and the liquid pipe 5 so that the rubber packing 6 is elastically compressed between an erected wall 4 and the pipe 5.
