Retracting mechanism for thermal head
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate the mounting of a label, by a method wherein the thermal head is retracted from a printing roller in response to an intermittent feed of a label by operating a solenoid which is turned ON by an output of a printing end signal. CONSTITUTION:A label is intermittently fed by a predetermined span at a time by a label sensor, and a printing start signal is outputted when the feed of the label is stopped. A bar code is printed at each predetermined position of the label, and when the printing end signal is outputted, a solenoid is operated to retract a cam plate 22, and a projecting piece 20 of a support bracket 6 of a main body 3 for fitting head is pushed upwards by an upper tip part of the cam plate 22. As a result, the main body 3 is rotated and a thermal head 8 provided at a lower end part of a fitting bottom plate 7 is separated from a printing roller 10, whereby the head 8 and the label are brought into a non-contacting condition. Accordingly, since the period of contact between the head and the label is shortened, the useful life of the head is prolonged.
