Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform large-capacity transmission among packages by multiplexing and then converting signals, transmitted among package, into optical signals, and thus transferring the signals. CONSTITUTION:An electric signal generated on a package 1 is multiplexed by a multiplexing circuit 2 and then converted into an optical signal by a module 6 which includes an electrooptic converting circuit and a light emitting element. The optical signal is transmitted to an optical fiber 9 through an optical branching device 8 and sent to another package. The optical signal transmitted through an optical fiber 10 is branched by an optical branching device 8 and then converted into an electric signal by a circuit 7 which includes an optoelectric converting circuit and a photodetecting element. Among converted electric signals, only a necessary signal is selected. The selected signal is demultiplexed by a demultiplexing circuit 3 and sent into the package 1. Consequently, an increase in the number of terminals of each electric connector and the complicating of a back wiring board are prevented, and large-capacitance transmission among packages is performed.
