Detector for steering force
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a power assist in a steering operation and to steer smoothly, by a method wherein split parts on both sides are drivably connected to each other by a rolling element provided between faced V-grooves thereof and an elastic means, and a switch for an oil pump is operated in response thereto. CONSTITUTION:When a steering wheel 1 is rotated, the split part 3b is also rotated. This rotation is transmitted to the split part 3a through a roller 9, a slider 8 and a coupling tube 4 by the force of a spring 15, and a steering gear connected to the part 3a steers wheels to be steered. In such a steering operation, the slider 8 is pushed against the spring 15 through the V-grooves 3c, 8c and the roller 9. Accordingly, a movable contact 13 and fixed contacts 11, 12 are brought into contact with each other to close the switch 6. By the closing of the switch 6, the oil pump is drivably connected to the engine, power steering can be performed, and power steering with good steering response can be conducted.
