Room temperature curing polysiloxane composition with prevented growth of microorganism
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: The titled composition, prepared by incorporating a triorganotin compound with an organosilicon compound and silanol-terminated polydiorganosiloxane without causing discoloration and reducing the adhesive property, and suitable for a fungiproof sealing material, etc. under a high humidity. CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. silanol-terminated polydiorganosiloxane having a viscosity of 500W400,000cst at 25°C is incorporated with 0.1W20pts.wt. organosilicon compound having two or more hydrolyzable groups linked to the Si in the molecule and 0.01W25pts.wt. triorganotin compound expressed by the formula R 3 SnX[X is halogen, mercapto, hydroxyl group, carboxyl, alkoxyl or R 3 SnO (R is monofunctional hydrocarbon group)], preferably a phenyltin compound, as an antimicrobial agent in the absence of moisture, and the resultant composition is stored in an enclosed container and cured by exposing to the moisture in the air in use. The composition is effective for blue molds, fungi of the genuses Mucor, Rhizopus, Chaetomium, Trichoderma, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
