Method of manufacturing turbine rotor made of ceramic
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent notches from appearing in a completed turbine rotor and avoid the breakdown of the rotor due to stress concentration, by separately manufacturing the turbine rotor body and a shaft and then fitting them on each other and thereafter performing machining to remove the ends of the fitted parts before or after sintering them. CONSTITUTION: A turbine rotor body 1 and a shaft 2 are first separately made of ceramic. At that time, the turbine rotor body 1 is so shaped that a tapered hole 3 is provided in the axial portion, and the shaft 2 is so shaped that a tapered turbine rotor core 4 is provided at the end of the shaft. Before or after the body 1 and the shaft 2 are tentatively sintered, the core 4 of the shaft 2 is inserted into the hole 3 of the body 1 so that their conical surfaces are fitted on each other. After that, the body 1 and the shaft 2 are sintered on a full scale so that they are integrated together. Before or after the full-scale sintering, the end faces of the rotor body 1 and the core 4 are machined off to remove parts A, B in which notches would appear. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
