Method and device for reading numeral information on document or the like and document

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To read number information on a document, etc., on a simple principle, by determining a numeral for information display suitable for a mark readout system and by resing part of the numeral as a mark. CONSTITUTION:The constitutent parts of a numeral on a document are substituted by longitudinal and lateral bars to obtain a numeral having a nearly rectangular contour; the longitudinal bars are arranged at one position each in vertical and horizontal directions among its four positions, and the width of one longitudinal bar at two right positions is composed of a prescribed bar. Then, two vertical positions of the numeral are scanned simultaneously from right to left to obtain two groups of detection pulses, for example, L1 and L1', and L2 and L2' of the lower half part in the time axis direction, and the horizontal width T of the numeral is calculated by the pulse width (t) of the pulse L1 appearing first among them, so that the numeral information is read by the mutual relation among detection pulses generated within the width.
