Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To renew filters by an uncomplicated procedure by arranging parallelly two filters to collect fine particles in the exhaust gas of a Diesel engine, switching the route of flow with a selector valve, and by switching the burner passage also, in interlocking, for burning the fine particles in the filter not in use. CONSTITUTION: The exhaust gas of a Diesel engine is led into one of those filter elements 1, 2 having an opening 4b opened by a selector valve 3, which are arranged parallelly in a filtrating device to collect fine particles contained in the exhaust gas. Into the other filter element 2 shut by said selector valve 3, on the other hand, flames of a burner are introduced which is constituted by a fuel nozzle 5 and those pressurized air jets 8b furnished around said nozzle 5, and thus the fine particles are combusted with the aid of reaction heat of a catalyzer provided in front of the filter elements. Thereby the filter element not in service is regenerated while the filter in service is sensed about its stoppage condition from the pressure difference between in front and behind the filter element concerned to undergo necessary regenerating procedure in the same manner after switching with the selector valve 3.
