Mold in continuous casting installation
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the attenuation of magnetic fluxes and to perform electromagnetic stirring with good efficiency by tying iron cores of an electromagnetic stirrer beforehand, fixing the iron cores firmly to the inside wall of a mold and providing the effect as a reinforcing member for the mold to the iron cores. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic stirrer 2 disposed with coils in iron cores 1 is incorporated between water boxes 3, and a copper plate 6 for cooling molten steel is mounted to the outside wall surface 5' on the molten steel side. The iron cores are beforehand tied firmly by means of tie bolts 7. The iron cores 1 are fixed to the inside wall surface 5'' of the mold by means of fixing through bolts 9 penetrating through the iron cores 1 and the mold wall 5 from the back plate 8 fixed between the water boxes 3 and screwing to the copper plate 6. The surface 5'' with which the iron cores 1 are in pressure contact is formed thinner than the other parts, whereby the attenuation of magnetic fluxes is prevented.
