Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To protect a compressor against damages caused possibly by abnormal rise of back pressure and to lower the level of starting current, by interconnecting a suction pipe and a back-pressure chamber for keeping a back pressure to each other by the intermediary of a control means. CONSTITUTION: A suction pipe 25 and a back-pressure chamber 35 for keeping a back pressure are interconnected via a control means such as a throttle valve or an on-off valve. Since, with such an arrangement, back pressure in the back- pressure chamber 35 having a great influence upon the compressor performance can be controlled to a proper level, it is enabled to protect the compressor against damages resulting from abnormal rise of the back pressure and to lower the level of starting current.
