Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To raise a recording density and also to sufficiently secure the level of a reproducing output and S/N ratio, by selecting an impurity density in a semiconductor layer having an insulating material film provided with a change stroring function, within the range of 10<15>-10<19> pieces/cm<3>. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 1 is formed like a round disk consisting of a semiconductor layer 2 of Si, etc., an SiO2 film 3 having thickness of about scores of Angstrom , and an Si3N4 film 4 having thickness of about hundreds of Angstrom , and is fixed on a round metallic turntable 5 with the rear side of the semiconductor layer 2 to face downward. When an impurity density of the semiconductor layer 2 is selected within the range of 10<15>-10<19>, a recording density is raised, and also a level of a reproducing output and an S/N ratio are secured sufficiently.
