Vertical magnetic recording medium
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetized film having excellent vertical orientation even through its preparation at high speed by adding a prescribed quantity of Cr to Co and by adding further prescribed quantities of Re, W and Mo thereto. CONSTITUTION:A film having the excellent performance is obtained by using Co as the main constituent, adding thereto Cr as the second constituent, reducing saturated magnetization to vertical magnetization of an appropriate value and preparing a magnetized film at low speed of deposition by the spattering method. When the deposition is made at high speed, however, the performance of the film is lowered. Then, one of Re, W and Mo is added at y atomic percent, as the third costituent, to Co to which Cr is added at x atomic percent beforehand the relations between x and y are adjusted to be 8<=x, 2<=y<=10, 10<=x+y<=27, whereby the vertical magnetized film having hexagonal close-packed lattice structure and an axis C of excellent vertical orientation is obtained without the anisotropic magnetic field thereof being lowered even when the deposition is made at high speed.
