Tool steel
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a free cutting tool steel with considerably enhanced machinability and improved impact resistance by adding a rare earth element together with S, Te and Se as free cutting components. CONSTITUTION: This tool steel consists of 0.2W2.5% C, 0.1W2.0% Si, 0.4W3.0% Mn, 1.0W20.0% Cr, 0.1W3.0% Mo, 0.01W0.3% N, one or more among 0.04W0.4% S, 0.03W 0.3% Te and 0.01W0.4% se, 0.005W0.60% in total of ≥1 kind of rare earth element and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The rare earth element is La, Ce, Nb Sc, Y, Sm or the like. It is required to add the rare earth element in combination with S and Te and/or Se, and the rare earth element spheroidizes nonmetallc inclusions formed with S, Te and Se. These elements are added as mintioned above in consideration of hot workability during forging. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
