Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To relax the tolerance for the dimensions of magnets and enable the adjustment of an axially unstable spring constant, by providing a means for changing the reluctance of magnetic circuits and by providing a sensor for detecting the position of a rotating body supported by a magnetic bearing. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic bearing magnetically supports a rotating shaft 1 integrally provided with rotary yokes 2, by outer and inner stators 3, 4. Controlling solenoids 7 are regulated by a signal which is produced by a sensor 8 cooperating with a target 9 and corresponds to the position of the rotating shaft 1, to modulate magnetic forces in gaps G 1 WG 4 to floatingly support the shaft. Nonmagnetic spacers 11 are interposed between a sleeve 10 and permanent magnets 5. The spacers 11 are partly threaded to vertically move magnetic members 12. The movable magnetic members 12 are used as the variable resistors R v1 ,, R v2 of equivalent magnetic circuits to adjust the magnetic forces. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
