Draw out port for continuous casting of small diameter rod
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make stable and long-time continuous casting of a small diameter rod of superior appearance possible by joining a mold of a BN-base molding to a feed nozzle of oxide ceramics and a BN-contg. molding, and providing a high frequency heater. CONSTITUTION:A cast rod is drawn out through the feed nozzle 7 of a draw out port 17 and a mold 2 from a molten metal, particularly Co-base alloy holding furnace 1. The nozzle 7 is the joined body of oxide ceramics 9 and a tubular molding 10 of 40-85wt% BN of the same bore, and a tubular mold 2 of the same bore consisting essentially of BN provided with a jacket 6 is joined to the end part of the latter. Graphite 12 and a high frequency heater 14 heating the same via a heat insulating material 11 are disposed around the nozzle 7. A heat insulating material 15 is disposed between this and the jacket 5, and a packing material 16 in the circular conical notched part of the jacket on the furnace side in contact with the mold 2. Here, the mold 2 is made of essentially BN and is therefore superior in lubricity. Despite the higher content of BN than that of the molding 10, corrosion resistance is obtained.
