Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a valve which can operate delicately and is secure against erosion by mounting a valve on a plate thermal responsive element formed of a shape memory alloy such as titanium-nickel alloy, wherein the valve is adapted to open and close by deformation of the thermal responsive element which is caused by a change in temperature. CONSTITUTION: A thermal responsive element 11 is formed of a shape memory alloy. The alloy is such as titanium-nickel alloy, copper-aluminum-nickel alloy, or the like, which are reversibly transformed between mother phase and martensite phase according to the change in temperature caused by heating and cooling, and deformed to the shape memoried in the mother phase and to the shape memoried in the martensite phase. The plate thermal responsive element 11 is provided with a valve 12 for opening and shutting an opening 7 at the center thereof. When the fluid flowing into a valve chest 4 at an inlet 5 is below a predetermined temperature, the valve 12 is lifted up to open the opening 7, and when it is above the predetermined temperature, the thermal responsive element 11 is deformed in such a manner that the valve 12 blocks up the opening 7.
