Propeller unit support structure for outboard engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To effectively absorb vibrations of an outboard engine in the whole running conditions of the engine by providing the engine with a soft damping member and a hard damping member. CONSTITUTION: During low load running of an engine, a propelling force is small, and hence a reaction force applied to a connecting means 36 is also small. Accordingly, deformation of a soft damping member 50 is also small so that vibrations of the engine are absorbed sufficiently by the soft damping member 50 and are hardly transmitted to a hull 22. On the other hand, during high load running, the propelling force is so great to deform the soft damping member 50 that an outer cylinder 56 is abutted against an end plate 72 or 74 which serves as a stop to further deform a hard damping member 48 or 52. Accordingly, during high load running, the connecting means 36 is equivalent to the hard damping member 48, 52 whereas during low load running, it is equivalent to the soft damping member 50.
