Fluoride glass for optical filter
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain fluoride glass for an optical filter usable in an ultraviolet - infrared wavelength region by adding a restricted mol% of a specified fluoride as a dopant to BaF2-GdF3-ZrF4 matrix glass. CONSTITUTION:This fluoride glass for an optical filter is obtd. by doping matrix glass consisting of, by mole, 28-38% BaF2, 0-7% GdF3 and 58-69% ZrF4 with >=1 kinds of fluoride selected from <=10% CeF3, <=8% P2F3, <=8% NdF3, <=8% SmF3, <=10% EuF3, <=8% TbF3 <=8% DyF3, <=10% HoF3, <=10% ErF3, <=8% TmF3 and <=8% YbF3. By this composition this fluoride glass has high transmission in the wavelength region of 0.3-8mum and fulfills the functions of a monochromatic light filter and a dividing filter each having an absorption line of an absorption band at a prescribed wavelength alone in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared regions of 0.3-7mum.
