Sail angle control device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To perform control of sail angle easily and accurately with a simplified winder by using only one winding drum and while taking up cordage at one side, letting out the same length at other side. CONSTITUTION: A lower beam 7 and an upper beam 6 are fixed to the lower end and upper end of the turning axis 4, respectively. A sail canvas is set up between these beams and turns as one body with beams. A winding drum 13 is installed at an adequate position between pulleys 11, 12 and driven by a motor or a hydraulic device. A wire 14 fixed to the port end of the lower beam 7 passes through the pulley 11 and has its other end fixed to the drum 13, and another wire 15 fixed to the starboard end of the lower beam 7 passes through the pulley 12 and has its other end fixed to the drum 13. When the winding drum 13 turns to the direction of arrow F, PQ is shortened and RS lengthened, turning the sail to a desired angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
