Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable binarization with high accuracy to detailed pattern of picture, by emphasizing the high frequency component of two dimensional space frequency. CONSTITUTION:Video signal inputted from a terminal 11 is inputted to a high frequency emphasizing filter 14. The video signal in which the high frequency component of two dimensional space frequency is emphasized with a high frequency emphasis filter 14 is outputted to a terminal 16. The video signal emphasized with the high frequency component is compared with the threshold value inputted from a terminal 12 and binarized, and a binary video signal is outputted from a terminal 13. Thus, binarization can be made with high accuracy even to fine patterns such as small characters and fine lines.
