Jam detector for ink ribbon

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To exactly and quickly detect the anomaly, e.g., jam, etc., of an ink ribbon by using a system in which output signal from a light detection circuit detecting the slit of a disk is converted into the signal of logic level, and an anomaly- informing signal is sent out. CONSTITUTION: When jam occurs in an ink ribbon, signal b does not rise after the time e and the counting of values set by a programmable counter 4 is stopped, so that signal c is trailed. Whereupon, differential pulse BP appears in the output signal d of a differential circuit 6, and since the signal a is in high level, a processor 1 receives the differential pulse BP as an anomalous signal. The processor 1 stops the output of a motor-driving signal for a motor control circuit 3 and also makes the signal a a low level. Also, the processor 1 informs an operator of the occurrence of anomalous situation by using a displaying means, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
