Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To realize an operation of a scanner while an operator is looking directly at the contents of an original, by reading the original of which the surface to read is placed upward. CONSTITUTION:An original 1 is put on an original support board 2 with the original reading surface turned up, and an original holding cover 3 presses the original 1 to the board 2. The cover 3 has a photoelectric transducing unit 6 which is supported inside the cover 3 by guide shafts 5a and 5b and then driven by a secondary scanning motor 7. The unit 6 contains an illumination source 12 to illuminates the original 1 plus a converging optical fiber element row 13 which forms the reflected light from the original 1 into an image on a 1-dimensional reading element 11.
