Steering apparatus for car
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To improve response in handle steering operation by steering rear wheels by use of a driving means according to the traverse acceleration of a car or the detected value of a yaw rate and generating the transverse force on the rear wheels immediately after the generation of transverse force on the front wheels on turning. CONSTITUTION: The revolution of a handle steering shaft 2 by a handle steering wheel 1 is transmitted to a gear box 3, and the rotary movement is converted to rectilineal movement, to operate tie-rod 4, and the right and left front wheels 6 are steered by the swing around the pivotal shafts 5a of the knuckle arm 5 at both ends of the tie-rod 4. In handle steering, the transvese acceleration or yaw rate corresponding to the direction of turning generated on a car and the value is detected by a sensor 7. An actuator 9 is operated by a computer 8 according to the detection signal, and the transverse acceleration and yaw rate are converted to the rectilineal movement of the tie-rod 14 in a gear box 10. The right and left rear wheels 12 are steered by swinging a knuckle arm 13 around a pivotal shaft 13a. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
