Cross roll rolling mill
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make a backup roll shiftable freely during a rolling work without causing any large friction, by installing a mechanism for shifting a backup roll chock in the rolling direction between this backup roll chock and a casing free from a relative slide in the screw down direction. CONSTITUTION:The rolling force of a screw 3 is transmitted to a work roll 9 through the upper outside wall surface and inner wall surface of a thrust beam 4 to be a casing and a backup roll chock 6 freely contactually sliding on the said inner wall surface. The lower part of the rolling mill is arranged symmetrically with this arrangement. For inclining axes of backup rolls 8, 18 against the rolling mill in a horizontal plane, since each of upper and lower pairs of work roll chock and backup roll chock is mutually fitted in, the axes of upper and lower rolls are made parallel and can be freely, optionally inclined in a horizontal plane. That is, in the illustration showing the operation side, the upper roll pair is shifted from the vertical center line X-X passing the axis of the screw 3 by a displacement (e) by a cylinder 15. On the driving side, the displacement (e') is given in the opposite direction; the lateral position of a strip 1 can be optionally set by thus controlling the crossig angle of axes of a paird upper and lower rolls.
