Magnetic tape controlling system

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure the normal process of a data block although the recognition is in failure for the A.R.A. identification burst, by rewinding a magnetic tape back to the position of BOT to have a retrial in case a read/write head detects a defect of recording. CONSTITUTION:In case the A.R.A. identification burst is not recognized, a retrial starting circuit 6 actuates a magnetic tape travelling control circuit 4 to start a servo circuit 13. Thus the tape is rewound back to the position of BOT, and the same command is given again to a magnetic tape device to check the presence or absence of the burst. A retrial counter 5 counts the frequency of retrials and then delivers an IBG detecting circuit gate signal 15 to an IBG detecting circuit 3 through the circuit 4 if the retrial to be performed next is the allowable final one decided within a magnetic tape controller.
