Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To remarkably enhance electrophotographic characteristics, as well as resistance to abrasion, chemicals, etc., and yet to make post hardening by heat, ultraviolet rays, etc. unnecessary, by adding a specified polyarylate as a binder resin of a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:Polyarylate represented by the formula (I) is used as a single layer photoreceptor, or each layer of the laminated photoreceptor. In the formula (I), n is an integer of 20-200; R1, R2 are independent of each other, and they are H, 1-10C alkyl optionally substituted, or aryl, such as phenyl or naphthyl, optionally substituted by halogen, or 1-5C alkyl; R3, R4, R5 independent of each other are each H, halogen, 1-5C alkyl optionally substituted by halogen. This polyarylate is dissolved in methylene chloride or the like, an inorganic or organic photoconductor is dissolved or dispersed in this solution, and the coating liquid obtained is coated on a conductive substrate and dried to give a photoreceptor, thus permitting this photoreceptor to have superior electrophotographic characteristics, physical strength, resistance to chemicals, etc.
