Covering material for heat insulation of high temperature steel material
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a covering agent of superior heat insulation characteristics for heat insulation of steel materials by adding a binder to a heat generating agent consisting of Al powder and an oxidizing agent and a low temp. igniting material, and mixing these to the slurry form by water. CONSTITUTION: One or ≥2 kinds of phosphoric acids, boric acids, silicic acids and their alkali metal salts are added as a binder at 1W100 parts to 100 parts a heat generating agent consisting of 10W50% powder Al, 2W40% one or ≥2 kinds of powders of iron oxide, manganese dioxide, nitrate, etc. as an oxygen supplying source for combustion of the same, 20W60% Al 2 O 3 powder as a heat insulating agent, and 0.5W20% one or ≥2 kinds of org. materials or carbonaceous materials such as wood meal, pulp powder, charcoal powder and the like which ignite and burn at low temps., and these are mixed. Water is added to this and the mixture is prepared into the slurry form, thence this is coated on the surfaces of high temp. steel materials such as continuously cast steel ingots, blooms after blooming and the like, so that the surface temps. of the steel materials are raised up to near their inside temps. by the combustion of Al and the combustion and heat generation of the low temp. igniting materials.
