Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To exactly fix the cutter of a trench cutter to a rotary shaft by fitting left- and right-handed fixing members serving to increase the outside diameter of a fixing ring into the fixing ring by positioning them in close proximity. CONSTITUTION: When a fixing nut is screw into a rotary shaft S, as left- and right-handed fixing members 17 and 20 come near each other, the tapered face 12 of a fixing ring 10 is pressed by the tapered face 22 of the left-handed fixing member 20 to increase the outside diameter of the fixing ring 10 against its own elasticity. By this, the periphery of the fixing ring 10 is contacted with the center hole of the supporting ring 4 of a sow flange 1 and the sow flange 1 is fixed to the rotary shaft S. Thus, since the sow flange 1 is integrally combined with the fixing ring 10 touched by the left-handed fixing member 20 of both the fixing members 17 and 20 securely clamped with the rotary shaft S, load imposing on the sow flange 1 during the trenching operation does not serve to loosen the fixing nut 26.
