Heat-sensitive recording material
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a heat-sensitive recording material excellent in head matching property for a thermal head, a thermal pen or the like, by a method wherein a normally colorless or light-colored color forming substance and a color developing substance consisting of 2-naphthyl salicylate are incorporated as color forming components. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-sensitive recording material having a heat-sensitive recording layer provided on a base wherein said layer contains as main components a normally colorless or light-colored color forming substance[for example, 3,3-bis(p-dimethylaminophenyl)-phthalide]and a color developing substance capable of developing the color of the color forming substance at the time of heating, 2-naphthyl salicylate is used as the color developing substance. The salicylate is excellent in color developing ability and has an eutectic point with the color forming substance of not higher than 100 deg.C, which is lower than those of ordinary color developing substances. Accordingly, when the salicylate is used, the use of a heat-fusible substance is unnecessitated or the amount of the substance required can be reduced, problems on head matching such as deposition of scum and trailing can be eliminated, and problems on storage such as blushing with the progress of time can be eliminated while retaining or enhancing heat response properties.
