Two-cycle engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a two-cycle engine by providing auxiliary suction passages each of which runs between the sliding face of a piston and a scavenging passage to a suction passage. CONSTITUTION: Two auxiliary suction passages 16 are formed in the wall of a cylinder 10. Each of the auxiliary suction passages 16 runs between slide face 11 of a piston and an auxiliary scavenging passage 14. One end of each the passages 16 is in communication with a suction passage 12 and the other end opens into the slide surface 11 of the piston in parallel with a suction port 12a, and below a main scavenging port 13a, thereby defining an auxiliary suction port 16a. Adding the opening area of each auxiliary opening area 16a to that of the suction port improves the performance of an engine. Because a piston is securely held around the sliding face 11, knocking noise, horsepower loss or other troubles caused by an inclination of the piston 20 may be prevented.
