Manufacture of cathode-ray tube

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To manufacture a cathode-ray tube free from a neck shadow by making the rear of the funnel of a cathode-ray tube different from the neck tube in thickenss to step the inside of the joined portion of them, thereby forming a glass solder reservior. CONSTITUTION: Thickness t 1 of rear end 3 of funnel 1 of a cathode-ray tube made of soda glass is made larger than thickness t 2 of front end 4 of neck tube 2 made of lead glass, and the circumferences of funnel 1 and tube 2 are allowed to coincide with each other to form internal circular step 6. When ends 3, 4 are joined with glass solder 5 in-between, fixed into a jig, and soldered by heating in a fixed furnace or a continuous furnace, molten excess solder 5 stays on step 6.
