Production of gasoline tank made of polyolefin

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a gasoline tank with excellent gasoline barrier property, by the treatment of the inner surface of a molded product for a gasoline tank made of a polyolefin with a low-temperature plasma, followed by coating with an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION: After a molded product for a gasoline tank made of a polyolefin is placed, with inlet thereof being opened, in an irradiation chamber, and the chamber is evacuated, the adhesive property is modified by the irradiation of low-temperature plasma. Then the inner surface of the molded product treated by the plasma, is coated with an epoxy resin. It is preferable to carry out the plasma treatment at a pressure of about 0.1W10mmHg, at a plasma output power of about 0.1W 5KW per m 2 surface area of the molded product placed, for about 5secW15min.
