Pattern recognition device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a device of simple circuit constitution with high processing speed by providing a multistage constitution memory that is accessed by regarding extracted feature data as an address and by storing category information for a pattern to be recognized in its final-stage memory. CONSTITUTION: On the basis of a video signal, features of a pattern to be recognized are extracted and on the basis of the features, recognizing circuit part 6 determines the category of the pattern to be recognized unconditionally. This recognizing circuit part 6 is provided with a multistage constitution memory consisting of stages of memories accessed by using as its address feature data that corresponds to said extracted features and in the final-stage memory, category information for the pattern to be recognized is stored. For example, data x 1 Wx 7 expressing the features of the pattern are used as address information to access ROM7 of recognizing circuit part 6 and a category stored as a solution at each address position is read out.
