Light branching-coupling element
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate optical connections with other light transmission lines or light circuits while realizing simple structure which can be manufactured with high precision, by forming a reflective surface at one end surface of a light transmitter formed by covering a spherical lens with a transparent optical member in a body and an optical film at the other end surface. CONSTITUTION:Spherical lens 41 made of glass, sapphire or the like is covered with columnar cover 42 made of a transparent optical member such as glass and acrylic resin of a low refractive index in one body to obtain light transmitter 40 consisting of lenes 41 with a convex surface and cover 42 with a concave surface. Next, a plane containing center axis 43 of this light transmitter 40 and another plane with an angle of 45 deg. to the plane are notched to form reflective surface 44 and on the other end surface, optical film 45 having prescribed optical characteristics is formed to obtain a light branching-coupling element. In this coupling element, transmitted light incident from light incident end 46 is reflected by reflective surface 44 at 90 deg., refracted by lens 41, and reflected in the center of optical film 45; and then it is converted through lens 41 into parallel light, which is branched to projection end 47.
