Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To carry out a secure interlocking with a ring gear by a method in an internal combustion engine the behavior of the plunger of a starter is divided into two stages, a motor for rotating a pinion gear in proportion to the behavior is operated at a low torque or at a rated torque. CONSTITUTION: The plunger 6 of a magnet switch 3 moves right by the excitation of a key switch 2. The plunger 6 is synchronized with the pinion gear 25 through a shift lever 26, a pinion clutch 24, and interlocks with the ring gear 27 to start the engine. When the plunger 6 moves to the right, first, the 1st movable contact point 7 comes in contact with fixed contact points 13, 14 and rotates a motor armature 21 at a low torque through a field coil 22a. Then, when the plunger 6 moves to the right, the 2nd movable contact points 16 comes in contact with fixed contact points 19, 20 and rotates an armature 21 at a rated torque through a field coil 22b to intensify interlocking between these two rings 25, 27.
