Removal of volatile component from thermoplastic resin
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an evenly kneaded composition with efficient removal of volatile components by vaccum dissipating them from a through hole is a cylinder kneading a resin in a solftened state as added by a given amount of water with two screws being rotated in the same direction. CONSTITUTION:Two screws 2 and 3 in a cylinder 1 of an extruder a are rotated in the same direction in such an arrangement that the grooves 4 thereof engages each other in the same direction. A thermoplastic resin in a hopper 5 is brought forward in a cylinder 1 with an aid of a spiral projection on the screws, and then water is added thereto at a rate of 0.5-3wt% from a hole 9. The cylinder is heated with a heater 7 and the resin softened is further carried forward being kneaded between the screws 2 and 3 while volatile components in the resin and dissipated with water from a through hole 6.
