Radiation dose measuring device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain accurately a radiation dose value on a basis of the ratio of the incident light quantity to the photowaveguide path to the emission light quantity from the photowaveguide path by utilizing the fact that the damping quantity of the light propagated through the photowaveguide path is increased according to the irradiation dose, by using the photowaveguide path such as an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: The radiation dose measuring device consists of light source 1 using gas laser, semiconductor laser, and so on, half mirror 2, optical fiber 3, fixed box 4 to store them, and so on, and radiation flux R to be measured is incident to optical fiber 3 fixed to fixed box 4. When the incident light quantity and the emission light quantity are denoted as Iin and Iout respectively, Iout=Iin.e+p(-α.L) is true (α: damping constant). If radiation dose ϕ is irradiated to part l out of overall length L of the optical fiber, α in this part is changed due to radiation damage and becomes f(ϕ). Thus, Iin/Iout is calculated in dividing circuit 7, and radiation dose ϕ is obtained finally. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
