Rolling apparatus

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the transverse bend and the necking of the rolled material undergoing the rolling work, by adjusting the distance between the central axes of two work rolls and the vertical plane made by the central axes of upper and lower backup rolls. CONSTITUTION: The central axis O 1 of the lower work roll 1a is shifted by a distance X 1 toward the run-out side of the rolled product from the vertical plane YY made by the central axes O 3 , O 4 of a couple of backup rolls 2a, 2b, and the central axis O 2 of the upper work roll 1b is shifted by a distance X 2 dissimilar to the distance X 1 . This difference between X 1 and X 2 is made larger than the gap C between the roll housing 5 and the roll chocks 3,4. Hereby, even if some gap is between the roll housing 5 and the roll chocks 3, 4, the central axes of work rolls 1a, 1b, are prevented from the mutual interception, so that the transverse bend and the necking of the rolled material are prevented.
