Adjusting method of centrifugal pump ability

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To adjust pump ability and required power by a method wherein the thickness of a packing between a casing and a casing cover is changed according to a pump load, and a gap between the casing cover and an impeller is changed. CONSTITUTION: A pump is constituted by providing an impeller 7 driven by a main shaft 6 in a pump house 11 which is formed by a casing 2 having a discharge port 1, a casing cover 4 having a suction port 3 and a packing 5 interposed between the two. From changing the thickness of said packing 5 to minimize a gap 12 between the casing cover 4 and the impeller 7, a maximum ability of a pump is obtainable; from increasing it, the pump ability deteriorates and a required driving force also decreases. Thus the pump ability can be adjusted easily according to an operating load, and a required power can be saved accordingly. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
