Preparation of liquid fluorine-containing polymer

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a readily curable liquid fluorine-containing polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution, by copolymerizing vinylidene fluoride with other fluoroolefin, etc. in the presence of a specific iodine compound. CONSTITUTION: In the presence of (A) an iodine compound shown by the formula R f .I x [R f is saturated perfluoro(chloro)carbon or fluorochlorohydrocarbon; X is an integer not less than 1, preferably 1 or 2], (B) monomers consisting of vinylidene fluoride and other fluoroolefin (preferably hexafluoropropylene, etc.) polymerizable with it are copolymerized with keeping a ratio of number of moles of the ingredient B to number of moles of I of the ingredient A of 10W1,200 (preferably 10W300). Preferably 2W20wt% iodine is linked in the polymer, to give an amorphous polymer liquid at 0W150°C, having a number average molecular weight 900W10,000. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
