Bundle type optical cable

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To ensure flexibility and external strength for an optical cable by twisting a plurality of subunits consisting of plural optical fibers to form a unit, twisting the plural units together, and forming predetermined outer layers. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of optical fibers 2 are twisted together and covered with press wound layer 3 to form subunit 1. A plurality of subunits 1 are twisted together and covered with press wound layer 5 to form unit body 4. A plurality of unit bodies 4 are further twisted together and covered with press wound layer 6, netted layer 7 with tensile strength and outer sheath 8 in order. Thus, cable 9 is formed. By carrying out twisting several times many optical fibers 2 are bundled to ensure flexibility for cable 9. In addition, sufficient cable strength is obtd. since layer 7 is netted.
