Optical fiber cable
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber cable which is good in heat resistance, is strong in contact friction and is difficult to fade in color without increasing transmission losses by convering a colored or colorless polyamide resin layer on an optical fiber strand and further a transparent resin layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:A colored or colorless polyamide resin layer 4 is covered on an optical fiber 1 applied with a primary coating 2, and a transparent resin layer 5 of polyamide, polycarbonate, polyacrylic, polypropylene, etc. is provided to the layer 4. The layers 4, 5 are covered by an extrusion method. It is also possible to array a plurality of the optical fibers 1 of differently colored polyamide layers 4 into one row, and forming these into one piece by applying a connecting covering 6 commonly with a transparent resin layer 5. Various applications depending upon purposes, such as from those having high resilience up to those having high rigidity may be achieved by the selection of the transparent resin layer 5. Since there is the covering of the layer 4, the increase in transmission losses owing to residual stress and strain is obviated and heat resistance is improved.
