Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To increase the motion attenuating force without degrading the high speed performance by providing fins with a predetermined area at inner front and rear portions of each submerged member in a semi-submerged with-hull ship comprising a pair of submerged members, struts and a deck. CONSTITUTION: At upper sides of a pair of submerged members 1 located below the water surface at any time and disposed in parallel with each other in the advancing direction, platelike struts 2 are mounted in such a manner that eeach strut extends upward vertically and covers along substantially whole length of the submerged members 1. An upper structure 3 is supported through the struts 2 to be always located above the water surface. In such arranged semi-submerged twin- hull ship, there are provided at inner front and rear portions of each submerged member 1 fins 6 and 6' with an area equal to 15W30% of that of the strut 2 crossed at the draftline. The fins 6 and 6' having the area in such a range permits the increase of a motion attenuating force without degrading the high speed performance. Further, the stability in the longitudinal direction can be more improved by using the rear fin 6' greater than the front fin 6. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
