Preparation of silica-loaded polyester

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polyester having high polymerization degree and whiteness degree in a short time, by adding colloidal silica of glycol dispersing medium system and a specific amount of alkali to a reaction system in ester exchange method. CONSTITUTION: In preparing a polyester (preferably polyethylene terephthalate) by ester exchange method, colloidal silica of glycol dispersing medium system, comprising silica having an average particle diameter not more than 100μ, preferably 6W100μ, and not more than 1.0mol%, preferably 0.04W0.8mol% based on silica calculated as M 2 O (M is alkali metal) of alkali are added to a reaction system and condensation polymerization is carried out.
