Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To facilitate control by recording or reproducing the following information, only when the seek operation of a random track ends, within the range of pulses entered in a sector servo signal at both terminals. CONSTITUTION: At the front and back of servo signal 14f, pulses 55 and 56 are arranged and between the both, seek operation confirmation pulse 57 is generated. The seek operation is started from the point in time when pulse 55 is generated after the seek instruction is received and while seek operation confirmation pulse 57 is being generated, positioning at a random track is completed. The recording and reproduction of the following information are started with recording-reproduction confirmation pulse 58 generated at the rise of seek operation confirmation pulse 57. In case that the seek operation is not completed within pulse 57 due to a fault of the head moving mechanism, etc., the following recording and reproduction are not done.
