Exhaust turbocharger
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To improve engine characteristics and transitional response characteristics by providing main and auxiliary superchargers in parallel to each other and controlling an operation of the auxiliary supercharger through an electric mechanism which responds to operating conditions of an engine. CONSTITUTION: A main supercharger 8 and an auxiliary supercharger 11 are provided, in parallel to each other, in an inlet passage 3 which is connected with an inlet manifold 2 of an engine 1, and an exhaust by-pass valve 12 which is controlled by an actuator 16 in an exhaust passage 6 on an upstream side of a turbine of the auxiliary supercharger 11 is provided. Said actuator 16 is controlled by an engine rotating speed and load, etc. Furthermore, in the inlet passage 3 on a downstream side of a compressor 9 of the auxiliary supercharger 11, an inlet confluence valve 19 which is controlled by an actuator 23 is provided to be controlled together with an exhaust by-pass valve 18.
