Composition for oral cavity application
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a composition for oral cavity application, containing a hardly soluble stannous compound and a phytic acid compound, and useful as a toothpaste, a local topicum, a tablet to be crushed with the teeth, etc. having excellent effect for suppressing caries and periodontosis by forming a highly acid-resistant layer to the tooth enamel. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition containing (A) 0.2-10wt% of a hardly soluble stannous compound such as stannous pyrophosphate and (B) 0.1-20wt% (pref. 0.2-10wt%) of a phytic acic compound such as phytic acid. The pH value of the composition is adjusted to 2-7 (especially 3-5). The component (B) solubilizes moderately the component (A) and supplies the oral cavity with dissolved active stannous ions (C) which act synergistically with the component (B) to form a highly acid-resistant layer to the tooth enamel. The amount of (C) can be maintained at a definite level by keeping a part of the component (A) as a precipitate in the composition, whereby the aging stability of the composition can be improved.
