Rubber composition
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: A rubber composition that is prepared by adding a low-molecular-weight copolymer of diene carrying specific glycidyl groups, as well as sulfur and a crosslinking agent to a rubber in a specified proportion, thus showing high processability and giving a vulcanized product with high physical properties. CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. of rubber are combined with (B) 5W50pts. of low-molecular-weight copolymer containing glycidyl groups and having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2W1.3dl/g in toluene at 30°C, prererably a product from glycidyl methacrylate and butadiene, additionally (C) 1W40pts. pre 100pts. of component B, of curing agent reactive with glycidly groups in the component B, preferably piperazinium oxalate, and (D) less than 7pts. per 100pts. of the component A, of sulfur to give the objective composition. The component B acts as a softener for the rubber composition when the composition is processed and as chain extender and crosslinking agent by reaction with glycidyl groups when vulcanized.
