Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To increase the weather resistance by putting the rust preventive into the gap of the columnar structure forming the magnetic metal thin film through the vapor deposition. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic film of the metal such as Co, etc., the alloy and others is formed on the supporter through the vapor deposition method such as the electron beam evaporation, the vacuum evaporation and the like and so that the incident angle may be 50° or more to the supporter surface. Thus magnetic metal thin film 3 is formed so that the magnetic metal or the like may be put on the surface of supporter 2 and that the long axis may have tilt columnar structure 4. Then the rust preventive solution such as cyclohexylamine or the like is applied, and thus rust preventive 5 is absorbed into structure 4. Magnetic recording medium 1 thus obtained has the reduced deterioration due to the corrosion of the magnetic metal, reduction of the saturation magnetization and reduction of the unevenness, thus increasing the durability.
