Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the unexpected movement of tone arm, by detecting the up- operation of tone arm and driving the control means based on the detected output. CONSTITUTION: The tone arm 5 is supported with the carriage 14 and it is moved in straight line radially to the record disc 8 with the drive means of noncontact type. The damper means consisting of the moving chip 84 and the coil 81 damping the straight line movement of the carriage 14 is provided, and the detection means providing the shutter 74 inserted between the light emitting element 78 and photodetectors 76, 77 detecting the up/down-operation of the tone arm 5 is provided. Further, when the up-operation of the tone arm 5 is detected with this detection means, the control means is driven and the straight line movement of the carriage 5 is damped with this.
